One way system introduced
As part of the ongoing Severn Trent sewer works across the town another phase of work begins on Monday.
Due to the refurbishment of the water pipes, a temporary one way system will be introduced in Newark Town Centre.
This will involve a one way system along Castlegate between the Castle roundabout and Lombard street. Vehicles will not be able to travel past Asda towards the Castle. The closure route has been updated slightly ahead of Monday's go live date.
The new changes include Millgate becoming two way traffic between its junction with Lombard street and Pelham street, and Albert Street will also become one way between the junctions of Portland Street and Albion Street. This is to ease congestion on the Lombard St / Portland St junction whilst the one way system is in place.
During this time, local bus services will be re-designated so as to terminate either at The Bus Station or at The Wharf. The works will be in place from Monday 19 February 2018 for approximately 18 weeks
A free replacement shuttle bus around the the town centre will be in place and will run at 15 minute intervals.
